Event Overview

This class is for design enthusiasts who need that professional touch to help pull their rooms together. You will get a basic overview of interior design.

Please bring one of your design dilemmas to class and get some feedback and the help you need to get you unstuck. The instructor will share her 25 years of professional experience with you on design element, use and application of color, furniture selection, materials and resources.

You leave knowing what your focal point is; you'll have a signature statement; and a little more Design Savvy!

Denise presently served as the Director of the Undergraduate Interior Design Program for one of New England's largest independent college of spatial design. Prior to relocating to Boston in 2013 she was an adjunct professor of Interior Architecture in the Art + Design department of Columbia College Chicago, the largest and most diverse private arts and media college in the nation. She was she also taught interior design at Harrington College of Design, the International Academy of Design & Technology, and the Illinois Institute of Art.

Before going into private practice where she focuses on residential design, Denise held an academic appointment as the Visiting Interior Designer at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, was a director at the international architectural firm of Perkins + Will in Chicago, a project manager at the international architectural firm of the SmithGroup in Detroit, and design resource director of WorkPlace Integrators in Detroit

Ms. Rush was honored to be selected to be a designer in the prestigious 2011 Lake Forest Show house and Gardens (in the North Shore of Chicago) where she and her team transformed a hall of closets into jewel box rooms to be cherished.

Denise holds a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management from Spertus Institute of Jewish Leadership in Chicago; a Bachelor of Arts degree in interior design from Michigan State University; and a professional interior design license in the state of Illinois.
