Event Overview

Metal clay is a new medium that has only been available since the 1990's. Invented in Japan, it is pure metal powder combined with an organic binder that burns out during the firing to leave a beautiful metal object.

Certain stones can be fired right in the clay to make your jewelry. We will have a selection of labradorite, moonstones and garnets for purchase if you choose to use them, and earring wires if you need them.

There is a charge for the clay itself of about 80 cents a gram, for copper and about $2.25 a gram for silver with 10-20 grams being enough for a nice pair of earrings. *PLEASE BRING CASH TO PAY FOR YOUR CLAY AT CLASS TIME! We will provide tools, but if you have ever worked with fimo or plasticine and have tools for that they can be helpful.

This class gave me a great introduction to working with metal clay. I chose to work with the silver metal clay (copper was also an option) and created a wonderful bead I will never forget! The metal clay is great for making unique jewelry pieces.
