Event Overview
Learn the basics of block printing at one Denver's coolest breweries. In this beginner-friendly workshop, you will learn everything you need to get started with block printing. Learn to design and carve your block, roll and apply ink, and hand print your design. Block printing can be used to make one of a kind pieces of art, cards, gift tags, wrapping paper, or printed fabric and clothing.
Grab some friends, learn a new skill, and take advantage of Cheluna's wide variety of excellent beer, as well as any of the many food vendors inside the Stanley Marketplace.
Students will leave with their finished block to use at home, and finished prints or cards on archival quality paper.
Minimum age
All ages welcome
What's Provided
All materials are provided including blocks, carving tools, ink, rollers, and paper for card making.

Ashley Quick is a printmaker and textile artist living in Denver, Colorado. Originally from Wyoming, she has spent the last several years teaching courses and workshops of all levels in printmaking mediums such as relief, monotype, intaglio, and stone lithography. Ashley is a graduate of the University of Wyoming in Art with a focus in printmaking and drawing. She is currently a teacher and member artist at Red Delicious Press in Aurora, CO.
She is a self-taught quilter and embroidery artist and wants to learn how to make her own clothing.

I had a great time at Blocks + Brews! Ashley made the whole process of block printing simple and accessible for everyone in the class. She made sure everyone got individual help and went home with prints that they were happy with. I would recommend this class for anyone who wants to try block printing or just wants to relax and have a fun night of making art.

Awesome class! Ashley was very prepared and experienced. She gave us just the right amount of demonstration and instruction and turned us loose--gave lots of positive encouragement. Very knowledgeable and helpful.

What a wonderful experience! Ashley gave us the basics we needed to get started, and then she offered pointers and lots encouragement as we worked on our block. I don't consider myself an artsy person, but I made something I was really happy with. Thanks for a wonderful class!

I really enjoyed this class. I've never considered myself a very artistic person, but with Ashley's guidance, I was able to create something cool, creative and that I was really proud of. My friend and I loved it so much, we promptly went out and bought all the supplies to be able to continue block printing. It was easy, fun, and the beer was extra tasty. I highly recommend!

Great class---I remembered (trying) to carve linoleum blocks back in school, to massively lukewarm results and was thus apprehensive about whether this class would be any fun. We used rubber, which was super easy to work with even to carve curves! Very forgiving, great entry-level material. Highly suggest giving a bit of thought before you go to class to what design you might like to make -- do some web searches for black and white images that aren't too complex, and take them with you. Ashley can help you pick which one is a good bet for your first block, and off you go! Folks in our class did a leaf, a cactus, a bike chainring, and a mountain.....
