Event Overview

Ever wanted a specific color for that new knitting or crochet project but nothing in the store was just right? This class will demonstrate the multitude of ways to dye yarn, how dye different types of yarn, what is the best fiber to dye and with what, and a hands-on tutorial of actually dying yarn yourself.

We will go over fiber content, the science of dye, dying techniques, and which technique will yield the results you're looking for. There's an endless array of methods to experiment with, but finding the method that will work perfectly for the project you have in mind is the real art. Students will actually get their hands on some bare yarn, test out how acid dyes pigment and stain, plan out what color-way they want their skein to be, as well as be assisted in making their plans come true by the experienced instructor.

Students will come away from this class knowing the do's and do-not's of dying, the science behind the process, and be able to successfully nail down that perfect color or tone of yarn they are searching for
