Have you ever wanted to be the next Banksy or just learn how cut a stencil design to paint on a chair at home? Well now is your chance! This class is taught by one of the nations top stencils artist and St. Louis' own Eyez guy Peat Wollaeger.
It will begin with a brief history to the art of stenciling which believe it or not was first introduced over 3000 years ago to modern day street art. After the presentation Peat will show how he finds subject matter to transform in to a stencil. You will want to bring in a few images or drawings that you have in mind either on Paper, a laptop or a jump drive.
The session will end with creating your first hand cut stencil to spray on what ever you choose.

• Best images to use.
• How to create a stencil
What to Bring
Laptop with photoshop (not required), a few high contrast photos or drawings of the stencil you want to produce.
Minimum age
All ages welcome
What's Provided
Exacto Knives, cutting boards, and some printing if needed.

Peat has been stenciling for over 12 years and has been dabbling on the streets with his art ever since he was a teen. His work can be found on several buildings in St. Louis, New York, Nashville, Chicago, Miami, San Francisco and Melbourne Australia....or you might some of his eyez on a fire hydrant near you!

Peat was really helpful and created a great learning environment that was laid back and fun. Definitely recommending my friends to take the next class in May. Hoping there will be a part two!

I had a great time at Peat's stencil 101 class! He did a presentation on the history of stencils in street art and introduced us to many artists I wasn't familiar with. I brought a rough digital file and he showed us how to make it stencil-ready using Photoshop. Then we pasted it to oil board, cut out the stencil and even had time to spray it! Peat was super helpful and made the process pretty easy. I would suggest bringing a canvas to use your finished stencil on.

It was an interesting class and covered all the basics to complete an a stencil project from start to finish. Also provided an interesting history of stenciling. I am confident that I could now do a project at home on my own.
