Event Overview
Do you have a skill to share but aren’t sure how to teach it?
A local adult education instructor will sum up the most useful techniques from her master’s program in teaching in this 1.5 hour class. Whether you're going to teach a hands-on activity or deliver facts and figures, you’ll learn tricks for engaging learners, helping them retain information, developing activities, and checking for gaps. At the end, you will leave with your first lesson plan.
The next step will be teaching your class!

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST
I am an English as a Second Language instructor for Parkway Adult Education and Literacy and privately tutor a variety of students on the side. I am at the very end of my master's program in teaching at Webster University, so all of the information I have is the latest and greatest. It's also still very fresh in my mind, and I have seen the difference it has made in my classroom. While my specialty is language instruction, the techniques I will share are useful for teaching any skill because they are based on research about how people learn and retain information. I love teaching and am excited to share this skill with others.

Class was great! Left with an expanded knowledge of how to organize my class to be more effective. Maryann was a delight.
