Event Overview

A favorite stand up comedian is like a best friend. They're always there when you need them, they 'get you' in the subtlest ways and they're prefect for cheering you up when you're sad.

If you're looking to get into the funny business, there are a few things you'll want to know first. Our Stand Up Comedy workshop is a crash-course in comedy, where we'll do a little bit'o learning, a little bit'o practicing, and a whole lotta' laughing.

First get the nitty gritty rundown on the biz. Learn the basic formulas for making people laugh, including key elements like: the process of writing bits, the method for arranging those bits into acts, stage presence and timing cues, finding representation and management and tips for delivering effective laughs.

Then we'll roll up our sleeves and let our funny bones show. Take turns practicing skits in low-pressure groups, and get feedback for improvement and encouragement from peers. Walk away confident in your ability to take on the stage, and ready to kill it at the next open mic night.
